An/tyc-39 dlt test set and kg-30 simulator
This unit does not come from the U.S. Government, but is one of the engineering units that was retained by the manufacture for engineering use.
The AN/TYC-39 was/is a battle field communications hub between the battle field systems, and acted as an AUTODIN interface and gateway if you will. It was as a Store and Forward Message System in the days before SIPRNET.
This test set is talked about in NAM-24A/TSEC, and it has the very interesting capability of simulating a piece of encryption that is still quite classified by the U.S. Government. (no exports in other words)
This unit is not beat up badly like the government units were/are, but the top handle at the top is missing (right over the "engineering use" sticker).
This suitcase also provides access to the timing and data of not only the KG-30, but also allows the creation of test patterns, and the inducing of various states for testing, including exposing the inner workings and timing of cipher systems
The dates on some of the internal chips date from 1983 and 1984 and it is built of almost all mil-spec componnents mounted in gold plated sockets.
There are four operational casters on the bottom to ease transport, and the two bail latches work fine.
This should be considered a piece of cryptographic collectable.
This system will not be exported.
