These cubes are so cool you can't put them down once you pick them up!
Neodymium is a rare earth metal and it makes some of the strongest magnets possible. A single one of these tiny cubes is strong enough to be a refrigerator magnet.
As seen on youtube, you can get a "slab" of graphite (made up of several pieces of pencil lead) to float above the magnets. it actually hovers above the magnets without making contact! What I've done here is save you the trouble of finding the magnets and making the lead slab. Get it all here.
The photos are un-retouched un-photoshopped actual photos of the floating graphite. The last photo is a rudimentary animation of my floating graphite. The youtube video is much better.
Magnets will be delivered aligned properly to enable the graphite to float. If you pull the magnets apart you will have to watch the youtube video to see how to realign them. I suggest you mark or label them before you pull them apart so you know how they go together to make the graphite float.
The graphite is fragile so handle with care. If you break the graphite you will need to make your own.
