The Agilent HP 8505A RF Network Analyzer measured data is displayed on a CRT as well as digitally.
The combination of the sweep oscillator and tuned detection system give it a dynamic range of over 100 dB.
The 8505A measures amplitude and phase simultaneously with a resolution of 0.01 dB and 0.01 respectively. Group delays can be measured over a range of 0 to 80 s with a resolution of 1 ns. Phase measurements can be displayed in a linear or polar (Smith Chart) mode.
