HERES A NICE RUNNING JONES & LAMSON TWIN SPINDLE HIGH PRECISION AUTOMATIC LATHE. THIS LATHE WAS JUST RECENTELY TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE. IT ONLY DID ALUMINUM PARTS. IF YOU LOOK AT THE PICS, YOU CAN SEE THE PARTS IT WAS MAKING.
MOST OF THESE LATHES CAME WITH ONLY A SINGLE SPINDLE. THIS ONE HAS THE TWO SPINDLE OPTION.
IT IS CURRENTLY SET UP FOR A 5 C COLLET WORK HOLDING SYSTEM. THIS MACHINE CAN BE INSPECTED UNDER POWER IN MPLS. I ALSO HAVE A VIDEO OF THIS MACHINE IN OPERATION.

(w/low speed pulley) 550, 1115, 1795, 2680
Through a selector switch on the operator's panel, various automatic cycles are available.
BORE CYCLE. The spindle starts and the table advances to a pre-set hydrocheck nut. The table then drops into infinitely variable feed and advances to a positive stop. At this point the table returns to the starting position in rapid traverse and the spindle stops. It's automatic.
(The bore cycle is generally used for precision boring operations.)
SQUARE CYCLE. The table advances in fast motion drops into infinitely variable feed, then engages a positive stop. At this point the cross slide advances, drops into feed toward the operator and proceeds to a positive stop. First, the table and then the cross slide return in rapid traverse, or feed, to the starting position and the spindle stops.
(The square cycle is commonly used for boring and facing, or, turning and facing operations. It is also used for tool relief.)
ELL CYCLE. Spindle starts. The table advances in fast motion to the hydrocheck nut and feeds to a positive stop. The cross slide feeds to a positive stop. The cross slide then returns to start in rapid traverse or feeds back. After that, the table returns in fast motion and the spindle stops. It's automatic.
(The ell cycle is used for grooving, on I.D. and O.D., form cuts and some facing operations.)
No hand controls. Once set up, operators just push a button. All cycles are under constant control and any desired motion can be performed by the accessible push button panel.
