On-screen measurement software for cameras and scanners
With a .jpg or a .bmp image from your digital camera or scanner the cnCam software will let you perform on-screen calibrated measurements of:
Optical distortions of your camera are corrected via a sophisticated, user tunable correction algorithm in software. Optical distortions are corrected independently within each snapshot to guarantee correct geometry at the top image level. The geometry of images from scanners is not corrected as scanners are assumed to be linear (with the cnCam software you will be able to actually verify if this assumption stands for your particular device as scanners can exhibit differences in X and Y scales).
In spite of its internal sophistication the cnCam software is very easy to use. Just position the pointer over a specific point in the image and at any zoom level you will get optically corrected coordinates of that point. Both inch and mm results can be displayed and there is no confusion as to which unit is selected. Two mouse clicks give you a distance between two points. Three clicks give you a circle and the circle's diameter or radius and the center point are computed. Four clicks specify two lines and the angle between the two lines is measured. For any of your measurement defining points you can perfect their coordinates by holding the keyboard buttons 1 through 4 as modifiers (just the way you use a shift key) and clicking again.
Once you have a collection of snapshots the cnCam software will allow you to export it as a single JPG or BMP image - with or without measurement markers in the image.
Finally, all cnCam measurements can be calibrated by placing a known good measure either under the camera or on the scanner along with the object being measured. For cameras, the calibration works at any magnification/zoom level and at any distance from the scene.
If you have a special request regarding interfacing with other application software we will do our best to satisfy your needs. This includes providing this software compiled as a .dll or as a LabVIEW virtual instrument.
