Pitney bowes smart image 9332 copier *parts unit* fix
After getting the finisher to sit close enough to the copier to press the sensor, we were able to continue testing. At first, we kept getting error code U6, which means one of the side doors was open, even though they weren't. Upon closer inspection, the hinge on the right top side door is broken, so even though it was staying closed, it wasn't sitting right enough to press its sensor. I couldn't fix the hinge, so I put a little piece of metal against the sensor, so now it always thinks the door is closed. Once this was done, it finally gave the green light and said it was ready to copy (hooray!!). I loaded it with paper, and proceeded to make a copy of our generic test sheet. As you can see in the picture below, the copy actually came out good. I then tried to make a second copy, but this time it gave a paper jam error. I checked, but there was no paper jam, so I attempted it again, but with the same results. I double checked again, but there really wasn't a paper jam.
At this point, I decided the unit must be haunted (not really, but it is quirky as anything). I took the paper out of the bottom tray, reset the top tray to hold 8.5x11, and attempted a copy from there. This one jammed, and this time it really was a jam. I think this may be due to the aforementioned problem with the side door not sitting quite right.
