Wooden surveyor's tripod with brass top plate, 59" tall
Has Mark on Mount bracket: lVa
Top Plate Mount cover is approx. 8" at widest to 2" at most narrow, mount top plate is slightly smaller than this
This tripod is a painted yellow color, made of round wood with 2 areas of round wood lateral reinforcement on legs - see photos. The time/era this tripod was made is still unknown. The head/mount Top Plate appears to be Brass, it is non-reactive to a magnet, and has a Brass color -see photos. Also the threaded conncector that goes through this Mount Top Plate and connects to the Top Plate cover, also appears to be Brass and has the same non-reactive quality and color. The Mount/Top Plate cover, is also non-reactive to a magnet, but appears to be an alloy like aluminum based on its color (seen through scratches), and its lite weight -see photos. The head/mount bracket also is non-reactive to the magnet, and appears to be an alloy of some type other than Brass, probably aluminum based on its appearance (seen through scratches). All the Orange items on the tripod, the head mount brackets and the shoes (except the very tips which appear to be inserts), are not reactive to a magnet; possibly they are a cast aluminum or some other alloy, we do not know their composition.
Please see photos, they are made part of this item's description.
The tripod stands approx. 59" tall and the legs are 1" rounds with 1" round lateral reinforcing/stabilizing in 2 places on each leg -see photos. The legs have paint chipping that occurred before the yellow coat of paint; they are visible through the yellow paint. The orange pieces appear to be in good condition, other than 1 of the feet, which has cracking in it as seen in photo -see photos. Other then some marks and dings from use, the tri-pod appears in good condition. There is no leather strap binding the legs together when closed.
**Note the small case mounted on the tripod for Plumb-bob or other device - see photos
**Under Mount were some bolts that looked as though they could be adjustable, we don't know - see photos
