This calculator will, in most cases, give a suggested set of cutting parameters which will be a significant aid in determining the most productive means for removing metal in a turning operation. In a situation where extremely large production runs are involved, a testing program should be set up to "fine tune" the various machine parameters to obtain the greatest possible production rate from the machine and tooling combination. To provide the necessary flexibility, you may select the type of cut desired; from light finishing - to maximum metal removal rate.
A special setting for Kentrol, Kennametal's unique cutting tool geometry, has been provided in order to realistically predict and demonstrate the ability of this geometry to remove more metal than a conventional insert without developing unmanageable or unrealistic cutting forces.
