Periostomes are designed to cut the PDL for atraumatic extractions.
These periotomes are designed for separating the periodontal ligament fibers from the tooth in preparation for dental implant, as the periodontal ligament cut & tooth removed then the underlying bone structure remains intact, thats giving the necessary support for an implanted replacement tooth.
