The Homer" coffee roaster is a table top convection oven with a rotisserie drum. The roasting chamber can attain 500F so you can roast as dark as you like. And while the beans are roasting, they are easily visible for color inspection through the full glass front. Tumble roasting is about as even as you can get. This roaster is a slow roaster with a steady heat gain throughout the roast. This roaster will not roast beans in 15 minutes. 1 pound is about 25 min, 2 pounds is about 35 min and 3 pounds is about 45 min. These times are with respect to mid second crack. Not the end of second crack. The pass through first crack is quiet and one must pay attention to shedding of chaff which occurs about 8 to 10 minutes before mid second crack. Time to crack is based on 55F ambient temperature and 70% relative humidity. The coffee from Homer has been widely tested and in no single case did anyone have critical comments about the coffee. All comments were praiseworthy.
Outside enclosure measures approximately 21" by 18" by 15-1/2". Roasting drum measures 8" diameter and 10" length and is made of Stainless Steel metal mesh including the ends for maximum heat transfer. Solid drum ends block natural heart currents during roasting. One end of the drum has a hatch for loading and unloading coffee. Electrical data is as follows: 120 volts AC, 1500 watts peak load, about 12.5 amps.
