The Vigreux column is probably the most commonly used fractionating column. The indentation design leads to greater efficiency. The horizontal indentations insure close contact between the vapor and liquids, while the slanting indentations promote the redistribution of the liquid from the walls to the center of the column. Designed with a 29/42 joint at the top and bottom.
