In the above video, I welded a brace to tongue. This aluminum was also picked up from the local scrap yard and I don't know what kind of aluminum it is. It is much thicker than the tongue, but I just pretty much kept the arc on the heavier aluminum and had no trouble. You can see it got good penetration, but did not cave in. I have yet to find a piece of aluminum that this rod will not weld on.
