Well, I thought the girls were all going to go broody/stop laying but apparently that's just not the case, so up for your consideration are 6 + quality bearded Silkie hatching eggs assorted colors from show quality stock, it seems dishonest to say any eggs are "show quality" since only mother nature knows what will really hatch. I CAN however, guarantee that the eggs are from show quality stock, and that your chances of hatching out this quality are far greater than eggs from breeder or pet quality birds. We have been hatching from these eggs for some time and have raised up several champions from each dozen batch set. These eggs will be from our black, blue, splash, partridge, & white pens. Number of each color depend on who lays. We will try to accomodate most color requests.
The parent birds have all been shown and have done quite well, with several past Champion of Show, Champion bantam, Best Featherleg, Best & Best opposite of Breed, and countless Best & Best Opposite of Variety wins in open shows. The last show we attended; the PCBC Open show held in Victorville, CA. in December, our winnings included: BV in black, BV & BOV in blue, and BV & BOV in partridge. We carefully selected stock from some of the top breeders in the U.S., and through several years of breeding, are very proud of the line we now have. We normally do not part with too many eggs, but due to the incubators currently being full, and the ever increasing cost of feed, we thought it was time to share our eggs with others!
The photos that I have listed, although not the best pictures(photography isn't my strong point), should show the quality of our stock. The splash roo "Benny" is pictured at 5 months old & full of pin feathers. The picture of single chick is one of our first lavendar hatchlings! He has super correct conformation, and nice dark skin coloring, he hatched from or blue/black/splash pen, so someone in there definitely carries the lav gene! The light partridge hen "Inga" is now in breeding pen after a very successful show career. The white pullet "Holly" in show pen is now a hen in our breeding pen, so far her offspring have been extraordinary examples of show birds. The other Silkies pictured are just a few of the birds you will receive eggs from. All of our breeding birds have vaulted skulls, well separated toes, most with feathering up to the 5th toe, super low & compact "heart shaped" bodies, wide well rounded cushions/tails, turquoise ear lobes, dark skin (except cuckoos; only combs are partially light skin), and good size top knots. Fertility here at the farm is running 95-98%, and the majority of chicks hatched have had the aforementioned traits. We love our Silkies and treat them like our kids. They make amazing pets and follow us everywhere, several of our roosters will stand on our feet until we pick them up for a cuddle. Our birds are very well cared for, and fed the highest quality feeds as well as a homemade mixture of organic ingredients to keep the birds in their best shape at all times. Our birds are not kept in tiny cages, but allowed to roam in large runs with access to fresh grass & greens at all times. They are not treated like disposable items, like some that we have witnessed at poultry functions. :( We believe that a happy, healthy bird not only increases egg fertility, but produces a much higher caliber of exhibition stock. *****Please read the following!!!*****
