The ECL-436K Bar Guard Kit is available as an optional item and serves three specific purposes:
1. Primarily it is designed to meet local fire codes to stop a fire hose from getting caught behind the paddle arm in case of a fire and..
2. It help keep people (you) and peoples (your) clothing from getting caught behind the bar along with deflecting materials moving through the door opening on carts.
3. Lastly, it works to help protect the lock when the installer does not install an additional pull handle on the door to pull the door closed during the locking of the door with the control key. The paddle bar is the only logical handle and pulling on the bar to close the door puts a lot of strain on the lock mounting system and your door.
It only makes sense to spend $16.00 or so to protect your $200.00 investment in your door hardware lock doesn't it?
This unit is designed for the ECL-230D only. The short paddle arm. Use the ECL-2100 for the ECL-230DPH and the ECL-600 locks.
The lock pictured is NOT included. Only the grey colored piece shown in the circle is part of the kit.
You fasten the bar guard kit to the door with three sheet metal screws so that it overlaps the end of the paddle and bar.
