SAFETY SPEED FLAT BADGE & ID WALLET
Safety Speed Holster was another excellent local Southern California that operated many years out of Montebello California. They were top line makers specializing in the POLICE & SECURITY line.
Starting business about 1945 in Los Angeles, California. They moved to Whittier CA. in 1952 and finally to
Montebello, CA. in 1963 where they operated for nearly two generations. `-
Their equipment was top notch, and stood up to hard work and abuse. every cop in Southern California has some Safety Speed equipment on his belt.
Best known for their custom CLAM SHELL holsters, they also carried a full line of police equipment, holsters and gizmos right up to just a few years ago.
Litigation and family tragedies hounded the company over the years, and these and the pressure of competition, hurt the company. A few short years ago they moved their business to the Arizona/Nevada area, where the original owner, now in his 70's continued to make a few rigs in a much smaller operation.
Sadly in 2008, Paul, the original owner passed away. No one stood in line to take over the business so now Safety Speed Company after well over half a century of manufacture has permanently passed away with him.
I have purchased much of Safety Speed's remaining factory stock and you will be seeing a lot of it here over the next few months. There will be NEW items straight from the factory that never hit the store shelves. Quite a few older items for out of production guns will appear and I will be filling up the store too.

One of the best makers of these heavy duty leather wallets, made in PLAIN BLACK. This particular style has a yellow tint to the plastic insert that goes over the ID.
It is designed with one windowed compartment and one inset badge compartment.
Open the wallet like a book and the badge shows, but the ID is covered and protected by a suede leather flap. Not a TRUE WALLET, this does not hold MONEY, just the Badge and whatever you fit into the ID window or the pocket behind the badge.
Your badge lays flat in the open area. The wallet is made thick, so it lays flat in your pocket and the badge does not bulge.
The badge can measure a max of 3.25" from top to bottom and 2.25" in the center.
It would be possible to recut and reshape this if you are skilled with cutting leather.
The wallet measures 3" x 4.5" folded.
This wallet is old stock and has not even been folded shut.
