Complete straw / sawdust briquetting plant by New Air comprising:-
3 phase electrics complete with control panels, reading 4500 hours,
A bale bunker pre-breaker/chopper. The bunker will accept a range of bale sizes including big bales and round bales. The chopped straw is conveyed to a 18.5 kw hammermill then into a 5.5 kw fan that blows the milled straw into a silo complete with vertical dust socks. The silo has a working volume of about 5 cubic metres and the vertical dust socks dissipate the air from the transport fan. The socks are supported on a frame with a vibrating motor that shakes the dust out of the socks intermittently.
The milled straw is discharged from the silo with a sweep arm discharger feeding a Bavaria BP500 piston briquetting
machine with a 15 kw motor, variable speed screw feeder, motorised vertical screw press and motorised die pressure adjustment. It has a full set of sensors and controls to automate production. The die is 50 mm diameter and is water cooled through its own radiator.
Once produced the briquette stream is forced along a cooling conveyor and up to a finished product hopper. The continuous stream breaks into smaller pieces as it exits the conveyor and falls into the hopper. The hopper has a vibrating discharge tray feeder with a perforated base which sieves out the fines as the briquettes are being bagged. We understand the output to be up to 1000 kg per hour of good quality briquettes. The plant requires dry straw at around 15% moisture content. This plant may be around 30 years old but has done little work and can still be supported by New Air based in Leicester
This plant could attract a 50% grant subsidy thru regional biomass programmes
