Add IR communication to Microcontroller, or Desktop Computer.
only 4 pins to connect: In, Out, V+, V-
Full featured high-speed Infrared communications port add-on connects to any motherboard. Connect and transfer data between desktop and PDA, laptop, other IR devices.
Connection instructions provided. You only need a four conductor cable and a 5-pin female header connector (not provided) for motherboard connection.
All motherboards made after 2001 have IrDA (5 pin header) connector on-board. All windows versions Win98 and later, natively support IrDA and have built-in system drivers for this port. Once you plug the peripheral in, Windows automatically detects the IR port, and starts monitoring it.
If you're a programmer, you can write code to respond to IR data, to make your computer remote-controllable from a PDA or other device.
To implement IRdA with a microcontroller, a dedicated IC needs to come between the PIC controller and the optical IrDA module: the MCP2150 IrDA stack controller. Virtually no other parts are required. You may get the MCP2150 from my listings.
To make it neater, you supply your own arts and crafts skills.
