Pure elemental iodine crystals, 150 grams
This iodine is in the form of granular powder and crystals. It has a purity above 99.9%. The lid is plastic with a completely unreactive polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon) liner. Its uses include chemistry, disinfection of drinking water, daguerreotype photography, and for use in solution as a disinfectant and antiseptic.
Iodine is relatively non-volatile and unreactive at room temperature (it is the least volatile and reactive of the stable halogens), but will instantly stain skin and clothing, and the vapors are very harmful to the mucous membranes, especially when heated. Prolonged contact with the skin can cause chemical burns.
