Wheaton Socorex Self-Refilling Syringe
In the original box, a high-quality Swiss-made Socorex lab liquid dispensing device. Model 174. The item was received here as most likely new. The fill-dispense cycle was tested with distilled water, with all components fully air-dried after testing. As far as air-bubbles, when tested, the chamber filled completely aside from a small air-bubble (estimated bubble diameter was 1-1.5mm). Filling the chamber (trigger release) with the device pointed upward, minimized bubble formation. Per the instructions, air bubbles are also reduced by priming (cycling the fill-dispense function several times) the chamber before use. Everything appears to be extremely clean. It is difficult to see in the photo due to the flash, however the stainless steel parts are in excellent condition.
The total fill volume can be easily and quickly adjusted from 0.3 to 2.0mL by threading the stainless steel ring near the trigger. The fill-release cycle can then be indefinately repeated at the same volume. The spring-loaded plunger is composed of corrosion-resistant stainless steel to allow a good seal without the use of an o-ring. The handle grip and dispenser design is very comfortable, designed to greatly reduce user fatigue. Also, nearly every single component can be purchased rather inexpensively as a replacement part.
This product includes several components aside from the main body. Also included are:
-Two 3mm O.D. needles. One long (~190mm shaft), one short (~35mm shaft).
-Sealed 18G x 1-1/2" Needle (guaranteed sterility just expired in May 2009)
-Three-Way detachable valve with corrosion-proof springs and stainless steel check-valve balls.
-Spare parts bag with the following extra replacement parts - 2 valve springs, 2 valve balls, 2 valve washers, 1 barrel washer.
-Operating instructions with diagrams.
-Removable protective slip cover for the glass body.
-About 1 meter of silicone feed tubing (~6mm O.D. and ~3mm I.D.).
