It has the AA battery option, which last for many many days. I like this option since if you work on a remote location, just carry another set and you can change them quickly without having to find an AC 120 outlet and wait for the unit to charge. Take three screws out, pop out old batteries, pop new batteries and place three screws back in for many days of service. I recommend you use alkaline batteries. Under normal use I have gone 5 months with one set!
