Individual One-on-One Guidance
A feature that separates Mentoring from a franchise is the Individual One-on-One Guidance. Some inspectors will jump right in and study completely on their own but most will need a little help and guidance. The Mentoring includes one year of individual, one-on-one telephone support and guidance by your personal business coach. There is no set time limit. Each inspector is different. Your Coach is there to help you when you need help.
Your need for assistance support doesn't end when you complete a course or earn your certification. You may find that going out into the field to do your first inspections is when you most want - and need - someone to turn to for help. Send your reports to your Coach before you send them to your clients. Your Coach will review your reports and make suggestions for improvements if any are needed. Take lots of pictures on your inspections. When you see something that you don't understand, you can send your pictures to your instructor for an opinion.
With a BestInspectors.Net Mentoring, you will get all the benefits that you would normally expect from a franchise plus much more without the financial commitment or investment that you would have with a franchise.

The CAT gives every field in the Report complete access to every comment and descriptor from the Comments and Descriptors Library. you are no longer tied to comments being drawn from a single category for a report field. The CAT also makes creating entirely new pages quick and easy. Finally, CAT takes the drudgery out of editing your Comments and Descriptors Library. The the CAT's interface, you can access every category and add, remove or modify the comments and descriptors from any category.
Previously only available in high-end inspection report software, Heritage Edition includes the Total Control Summary generator. Tag a comment for inclusion in the Summary and TCS will take you to the Summary page where you select exactly where you want the comment to appear. All you do is click a the OK button and your comment will be in the Summary. You will instantly return to where you were working. No other Auto-summary gives you the power and flexibility of Heritage's TCS Auto-summary feature.
Checkbox Maker instantly creates custom labeled checkboxes that you can place almost anywhere. You can add custom checkboxes to your master report template, any of your custom report templates or create checkboxes on the fly for individual reports. Checkboxes can be used to identify items within a category or attributes of an item.
Custom checkboxes can give your report a more organized and professional appearance when used to detail and highlight special or unusual room or system attributes. All this is possible with a single mouse click on the XL Pro Command Bar.
Windows Vista and Office 2007 Ready
Heritage gives you maximum flexibility. Heritage works with any edition of Windows XP or Vista and any edition of Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007.
The powerful XL Pro Command Bar now comes to the Heritage Edition. The XL Pro Command Bar brings the power of Heritage Edition's most popular features to the forefront. The XL Pro Command Bar is accessible at all times regardless of where you are in the report or what you are doing.
Do you sometimes want to place a photo right among your text, alongside a narrative, or next to check boxes related to the item depicted in the photo? Now you can.
There are times when to be sure that your reader's attention is directed toward one of several items in a photo. You already have the ability to put a circle around the item or point to it with an arrow or to put a description near the photo. Now, you also have the ability to put text directly on the photo.
Heritage Edition features a continuously expandable report that grows as you add text and photos. Your reports can be 10 pages or 200 pages or anything in between. You can expand or shrink the report to fit what you have to say.
Support handwriting recognition is just the start. Heritage's new pages are optimized for use on the smaller screens of Ultra Mobile Personal Computer's. UMPC's are the perfect alternative to cumbersome, inefficient, difficult to use Pocket PC's.
Pocket PC's are impractical to use for inspections because of the difficulties associated with the scaled down operating systems, small screen size, need for a second PC, and a host of other deficiencies. UMPC's solve all those problems and provide all the benefits of a hand held PC. XL Pro is the inspection industry's first reporting software series optimized for use on UMPC's.
Of course, if you are using a Laptop, Notebook, or Desktop PC, Heritage works equally well on those platforms. In fact it is the only inspection report software designed specifically to run on all these platforms.
Advanced Spelling, Punctuation, and Grammar Checking
No other inspection report system has the advanced Spelling and Grammar checking capabilities of XL Pro. Highlight any text in the report and click a button on the XL Pro Command Bar . It's that easy! XL Pro's Spelling Checker will advise you not only of spelling errors but will make suggestions for punctuation and grammar too.
There are times when a detailed narrative description is needed. A pre-defined comment just won't do. Now you have the ability to create a resizable text box directly from the XL Pro Command Bar. The text box can be placed directly over any existing comment field or just about anywhere else on the report. The new Text Box feature gives you an unprecedented level of control over your report.
With so many sheets to select from to build your report, you need a way to quickly view and navigate to pages in the report. XL Pro's new navigation system gives you two method's in which to navigate to pages. You still have the traditional line-up of page names at the bottom of the screen in the order that you have them arranged (to follow the sequence of your inspections). Now you have a second, lightning fast, alphabetically arranged drop down menu of page names that allow you to jump directly to any page in the report.
Another new navigation tool is the "Home" button on the XL Pro Command Bar. There are times when you are working on a report that you want to jump to the beginning of the report. The Home button instantly takes you directly to the report's cover page.
The ability to define a standard report and save it as your default or as a template is one of the most popular features of our high-end reports. It is now available in a mid priced report for the first time.
BONUS (on the XL Pro Heritage CD)
Create a 2D sketch in the top right pane and Sweet Home 3D creates a 3D rendering automatically in the bottom right pane. Insert doors, windows, appliances and furniture from the library and they are put in the 3D rendering for you. When you are finished with your 2D drawing, you will be able to rotate the 3D image to see it from every view. Sweet Home 3D is included on the XL Pro CD.
Home or Commercial Inspections
The only PC based report available that has everything you need to perform residential or commercial inspections
The report is completely configurable for almost any type of building you can think of. Whether you are inspecting a single family home, condo, apartment building, retail store, office building, or manufacturing plant, the report can be configured within minutes to match the building type. It is so easy to configure that you can configure it to a particular building type on-the-fly while doing an inspection - with no appreciable time loss. The report comes pre-configured for a single family home.
10,000+ Comments and Descriptors in 99 Categories
The most powerful feature of the Report is its built-in fully editable library of more than 10,000 pre-defined comments and field descriptors in 111 Categories.
If by some chance you don't find a comment from among the thousands available, you can permanently add your custom comments and descriptors to the library. The Comments Library is expandable to nearly 20,000 comments and descriptors! You can also type directly into a comment or descriptor field without permanently adding it to the Library.
Every descriptor and every comments field in the report contains a drop down box of predefined descriptions and comments. Literally tens of millions of combinations are available.
Double click on a checkbox and a check mark will appear in the box. Right click on a check box and an "X" will appear in the box. To clear a check mark or X mark from a checkbox, either double click on it or right click on it and mark will be removed.
Easiest and fastest in the industry
Double click on a photo box to bring up a "browse" window. Double click on the photo file and it will automatically be inserted, sized and aligned for you.
Click on a button located at the bottom of each and insert a black arrow, red arrow, red circle, or text box on your photo to highlight defects. The entire process to insert a photo, and place all four elements (a red arrow, a black arrow, a red circle, and a text box) on it can be accomplished in a mere 10 seconds!
A feature usually only found in reports costing hundreds more
Each major section of the report has comments sections where you can place comments that will appear both on the subject page and on the Auto-Summary Page. In addition to the Auto-Summary Page, there are two additional Summary Page options, including one that allows you to mix a narrative summary with photos on the same page.
10,000+ Comments and Descriptors in more than 100 Categories
The most powerful feature of the Report is its built-in fully editable library of more than 10,000 pre-defined comments and field descriptors in more than 100 Categories. Every descriptor and every comments field in the report contains a drop down box of predefined descriptions and comments. Literally tens of millions of combinations are available.
If by some chance you don't find a comment from among the thousands available, you can permanently add your custom comments and descriptors to the library. The Comments Library is expandable to more than nearly 100,000 comments and descriptors! You can also type directly into any comment or descriptor field without permanently adding it to the Library.
More than 200 popular equipment manufacturers
Many inspectors include brand names of major appliances, HVAC, and Electrical equipment. The comments library includes more than 200 common brand names, Trade Names, and manufacturers. And, like all sections of the Comments Library, you can continue to expand the number of items listed by name.
A single word or an entire page
One of the most requested features we have had with our older reporting system is the ability to do spell checking on comments fields and the summary page. You now have the ability to run spell check on every page of the report. Of course, you may not ever need it because you can complete a report almost without ever having to touch the keyboard.
Because this report is so highly configurable, the chances of any two inspectors having exactly the same report are almost zero. Of the 20 pages of the basic report, some inspectors may configure the report to only be 8-10 pages, some may use every one of the 22 pages of the report. We have provided you with a quick and easy way to select and print only the pages you need.
You can print any page from a button on that page or you can click on a button on the first page that gives you a menu of available pages to print. Simply click on the circle next to each page and press print. All the pages you need and only the pages you need will print. Any combination of pages can be selected and sent to the printer in about 5 seconds.
Pre-inspection Agreement (Contract)
And a complete set of business tools
Heritage comes complete with a pre-inspection agreement and a full set of business tools including job order forms, receipt, invoice, telephone record, photo log, tri-fold brochure template, Quicklist marketing tool, and much more.
Meets or Exceeds All Industry Standards
Reports created with Heritage will meet or exceed all industry standards throughout the United States and Canada.
Heritage Edition is 100% compliant with the requirements of the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC). The five required TREC pages are included in the report. The TREC pages can also be used throughout the United States and Canada.

Roofs, Attics, Chimneys, and Trim
Best Inspectors, Best Inspections!
Roofs and Roofing Volume 1: Roofs, Attics, Chimneys, and Trim
from actual home inspections performed by Best Inspector Network members, depicting some of the most common roofing problems found during home inspections.
Roofing problems represent the number one major problem area encountered by home inspectors. In order to be a successful home inspector it is essential that you know roofs!
The best way to learn roofing is to see the results of improperly installed roofs and roofs that have simply died of old age. This CD contains more than 150 original photos of roofs, attics, chimneys, and trim from actual home inspections. These photos will help you quickly identify existing or potential roofing problems.
Many inspectors fail to recognize these problems, especially when the problems are in their infancy. Anyone can recognize major damage after it already exists but it takes a skilled inspector to be able to identify many defects and deficiencies before they actually cause damage or before the damage is visible to the untrained eye. This series of CD's will help you develop the skills you need.

Wood Destroying Insects volume 1
Termites and Powder Post Beetles
Wood Destroying Insects volume 1: Termites and Powder Post Beetles
From actual home inspections performed by Best Inspector Network members, of wood destroying insect evidence and damage found during home inspections.
Most books and training manuals will show you a photograph of a problem but, even though it may be an excellent photograph, it is difficult for you to learn from it how to identify the problem in the field. The reason is that most training manuals do not show the problem in its full and proper context. The photo collections in our training CD's walk you through the houses and to the problems. It is as close to being there as you can get. You will get the feel that you have walked into the houses in these photo series and found the problem just as you would have done had you inspected the houses yourself.
This CD will walk you through five houses ranging in age from about 30 years to more than 100 years and a 150 year old church, each invested with either termites, powder post beetles, or carpenter ants. One house in the collection was a home inspectors worst nightmare. It almost had it all; termites, carpenter ants, wood destroying organisms, mice, rats, and a host of other non WDI/WDO problems. About the only thing it didn't have was carpenter bees. By the time you have finished browsing through the more than 500 photos on this CD, you will never again look at a piece of wood the same way again. You will have an entirely new sense of awareness of termites and powder post beetles and the damage they can do.
Even if you do not do WDI or WDO inspections, your clients expect you as a home inspector to be able to identify damage, understand what caused it, and explain it to them. Many inspectors fail to recognize these problems, especially when the problems are in their infancy. Anyone can recognize major damage after it already exists but it takes a skilled inspector to be able to identify many defects and deficiencies before they actually cause damage or before the damage is visible to the untrained eye. This entertaining and educational series of photos collections will help you develop the skills you need.
A collection of hard to find public domain termite and powder post beetle training and reference manuals and articles.
This CD contains both original works by Best Inspectors Network and republications of government publications. The compilation on this CD is protected by U.S. and International copyright laws.

Q. Is there a limit to the amount of time I will have with my Coach?
A. Every person is different. We do not have set limits on the amount of time we will spend with you. You will probably need more help initially and less over time as you become more confident in yourself. A person with no prior business experience will probably need 100-150 hours of coaching during the first year in business.
Q. What is the difference between this program and your courses?"
A. We offer a wide variety of courses and other services to meet every need and every budget. Each service or course is different. This is NOT a course. It is Business Coaching and Mentoring.
Q. Is this course available as a classroom course instead of self-study?
A. No. This is NOT a course. It is Business Coaching and Mentoring. We offer classroom courses but dates and times are limited and they do not include everything that is included in this special self-study course. We offer classroom courses in California, Michigan, and Ohio. Anyone interested in New York classroom courses should contact our affiliate Merrell Institute (Long Island).
Q. Will you prepare me for my state license?
A. Coaching and Mentoring are consulting services. We will help you build and operate your home inspection business. Our goal is not to prepare you for a licensing. If a license is required in your state, you will need to contact the state for information regarding obtaining a license.
Q. Do you provide legal, financial or accounting services?
A. No, we are not lawyers, financial consultants or accountants. We will help you with the facets of running a business that other professionals do not provide such as marketing, operations management, organizational management, and so on. We will also provide you with software, reference materials, and technical support.
