The ESR value depends on the capacitor value and voltage rating. But generally speaking, if the ESR is less than one ohm, the Cap is good, if big than ten Ohms, the Cap is bad. We have detailed reference data chart in our instruction manual. And furthermore, you do not need to remove the capacitor from circuits. The reason for this function is that the output test signal of ESR meter is only 16mvp-p and it will not active any solid devices. In addition, the low ohm feature of ESR Meter can eliminate the effect caused by the components parallel with the capacitor under testing. And thanks for this feature that enables ESR Meter to be used in circuit.
