The FourGear software quickly finds sets of four gears that produce a given ratio, for gear trains where gears A and B mesh, gears B and C are stacked, and gears C and D mesh. Bu utilizing an efficient algorithm, it is literally able to search millions of possible combinations per second. Such gear combinations are often illustrated as:
The gear combinations in this program are based on the formula: RATIO = (A x C) / (B x D)
- Typically completes search of possible combinations in about five seconds on a 1.2 ghz computer
- Use your own list of available gears for a specific machine, or use list of all gears
- Set parameters to limit the quantity of results generated
- Enter the desired gear ratio and the allowable error
- Results can be saved, viewed, edited, and printed.
