Invert measuring tool
This tool accepts most all types of level rods (you don t have to use any specific type of rod).
To operate, simply insert the level rod into the clamping devices until the bottom of the level rod is resting on the base plate of the lower clamp. Then tighten the knobs of the brass and rubber clamps until the level rod is held snug against the opposite rubber pads. Then simply lower the tool into the manhole until the bottom of the 2 inch horizontal bar is resting on the bottom invert of the pipe. Now plumb the rod using the level bubble and take your reading at the manhole rim. By adding 1 foot to this reading, you now have an accurate vertical measurement from the invert of the pipe to the manhole rim.
