U-Solder Crystal Tester Project (#1715)
This kit by NightFire Electronic Kits is the U-Solder Crystal Tester Project. It is very popular and easy to build. It will light up the Green LED whenever a good crystal is tested. It has been tested with crystals from 1MHz to 80MHz. It comes with a crystal socket to test various crystal frequencies and it also has the crystal connections available as outputs so that you can wire up your own crystal holder. It has a pushbutton to start the circuit so that there is not a constant battey drain. The oscillator portion of the circuit is a Colpitts Oscillator which feeds an LED driver. If the crystal will oscillate, then the LED will be driven On.
You get the PCB, Schematics, Electronic component parts, and some crystals to experiment with. It requires a 9 volt battery which is not included. The PCB is 0.062" thick and double-sided with a very good ground-plane on the bottom side.
