Quail hatching eggs - 1 pound of ground oyster shell
Oyster Shell is a natural source of calcium carbonate and a necessary supplement for all your Birds, helping to build strong eggshells. Too little calcium will result in thin-shelled eggs that will be prone to breakage. You can put the Oyster shell in a separate container or mix 1 pound in with every 20 pounds of feed. The Oyster Shell added to the feed or by itself when ingested will strenthen the birds eggs, and result in healthier feathers, better egg hatching, and better overall condition of your birds.
Oysters and Oyster Shell can serve several purposes. One oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water a day and it does this by feeding on plankton and waterborne detritus. Oyster shells also can stabilize ph levels in soil and is used in the garden as a liming material and in aquariums and Koi Ponds. The suggested mixing rate for fish ponds is one pound of oyster shell per thousand gallons of water which is deposited in the filter media.
