A CORE SPLITTER IS USED TO SPLIT DRILL CORES LENGTHWISE FOR STUDY AND ANALYSIS
A manual core splitter is popular because of its portability. It is very easy to use. Simply place the core lengthwise into the vee block, and then turn the top hand wheel which lowers the knife blade against the core in the vee . When the knife is in firm contact with the core, a sharp blow with a hammer or sledge on the rod cap will cleanly split the core.
This core splitter handles core lengths of up to 4-1/4" (107.95mm), and from 3/4" (19mm) to 2-7/8" (73mm) in diameter.
