PEX Rails allow for the most convenient, fast and hassle-free PEX tubing installation. They are durable, non-ridgid, easy to store and handle, very light and are very easy to install.
PXR12 rails are for use with 1/2" PEX or 1/2" PEX-AL-PEX tubing only (5/8" OD).
PEX Rails are commonly used for the following concrete slab PEX installations:
Thin slabs (concrete or thermal mass over wooden subfloor)
Rails can be secured to plywood with regular screws or fasteners.During normal installation, PEX rails are installed in any desired pattern, with 12-18" spacing between them. PEX tubing easily snaps into the channels at any desired spacing (8" OC, 12" OC, 16" OC, etc.)If installed on top of foam board insulation (such as poystrene), PEX staples can be used to secure the rails in place.
Slab over existing slab installations
PEX Rails are mounted to the surface of the existing slab with anchor screws or masonry nails.
Regular Concrete slabs (4-6" thick)
Use nylon or metal wire ties to secure rails every 16-24" to the rebar or wire mesh.
