Complete "BOLT ON" Roller bearing R8 spindle box with custom fitted Stirling Steele or Belt Drive Set Grizzly G8689 or Micro-Mark 82573 MicroLux Mini Mill.
This carefully prepared BOLT ON replacement spindle box eliminates the intermediate shaft and the unused gears left over from the belt drive conversion. It fully prepared, fully fitted, fully adjusted and run in to fit any X2 mini-mill.
The spindle has been fully polished.The roller bearings have been lubricated with high performance Mobil 1 synthetic grease. A sepcial low friction wiping teflpn PTFE high temperature seal was preciasely machined and fitted to the bottom of the seal to retain the grease and to exclude entry of debris and swarf from the spindle bearings. Since both roller bearings are wider on the cylindrical axis, accomodations had to be made to compensate in both the design and manfacture of the precision teflon bottom seal. The Steele spindle pulley of the belt drive, as well as the key retaining it to the spindle were carefully machined to bring the spacing of the spindle pulley sheave to the original position prior to the roller bearing upgrade. The top of the pulley has a special chamfered cut made into the cavity to allow full engagement of the spanner locking nut and setcrew, which is done with a ball end hex wrench of the required size . The photo below, with the belt cover removed, shows the spindle box with belt drive mounted and the spanner nut being adjusted with the ball end hex wrench;
The photo below shows the custom machined teflon bottom seal that took me months to develop. This seal is a mandatory item for the successful longevity and function of this conversion.
This listing is for the assembled R8 roller bearing converted spindle box with the custom fitted and assembled Steele Belt Drive Conversion attached. Three belts and two draw bars with correct sized wrenches are included. No mini mill or lathe shown in the photo(s) is included. This is a very easy installation "BOLT ON" requiring NO MACHINING. The set is guaranteed to be exactly as described and to function as intended. However, ALL SALES are FINAL.
