Ergo spirometer excercise test system with ecg monitor
The system measures gas concentration and volumes in the breath, as it is primary data, and optinally, takes inputs from peripheral equipment such as heart rate monitors and ergometers. The calculations performed on the data produce values for a number of respiratory physiological parameters, and the reporting provides facilities for user defined multi-graph outputs.
in operation, the subject breates via a mouthpiece assembly, which monitoes the composition and flow rate of the breat. this assembly employe an inline turbine type flow-measureing device for respiratory flow measurement and a sample take off line for gas concentrations. the turbine produces a pulse train from its optical pick-up ring which represents the flow rate, and the sample take off provides a continuous flow of sampled breath to the gas analyser.
the computer provides control and user interface to the equipment, and additional equipment such as an ergometer and a heart rate monitor may be connected to the system for further data capture.
the pulse train signal from the turbine flow sensor is fed to a decoder, which provides flow rate information to the application software, calibration can be performed on the turbine device with a standart 3L syringe.
the instrument is desinged primarily to measure the two respiratory gases, oxygen and carbon dioxide, the remaining components ( nitrogen and argon) are also measured for completeness, and allow the use a dry gas normalisation. the turbine device is capable of working at a maximum flow rate of 15 litre sec.
the computer is equipped with software to run the instrument as part of the application ( Exercies test) and produces relevant output of result.
