Sodium carbonate glaze & firing additive pure powder

Pure grade (anhydrous) sodium carbonate powder (soda ash) NON Hazardous
400g double sealed euro spec tub
This is a highly pure industrial/laboratory product at 99.6% pure.
Anhydrous means that it does not contain water, that can affect it's properties in many uses, like the sodium carbonate bought in the shops which contains much water. The soda ash that is available in the shops as washing products contain many other ingredients that make them unsuitable for other uses like pottery.
The powder is classified as 'Light'. Most soda ash available is in large crystals similar to sand, making it difficult to mix in to make smooth glaze mixtures, and difficult to spread in a furnace in Soda Firing.
The 'Light' form of this product is a very fine powder making it readily dissolvable, easily forming smooth mixtures. The powder also disperses readily in moving air making it the ideal form to be introduced into the furnace to be spread by the flame, the normal shop bought crystals simply won't work in this instance and they would create a poor effect.
Used as deflocculant in ceramic slips and glazes producing slips that do not gel too rapidly. Sodium carbonate is the preferred deflocculant for thinning glaze slurries.
Sodium carbonates solubility means it is an excellent flux for Egyptian paste glazes.
Soda mixture is added into a kiln towards the end of firing. The soda vaporises and is transported throughout the kiln in the flame and reacts with the pieces in the kiln to create a glazed or flashed surface.
