Singer model 241-13 Heavy Duty/Industrial sewing machine with Singer 1/2 HP motor and hardwood table.
This is an interesting machine as it was owned by the White Stag company which was a Portland, OR institution and manufactured tents for the Govt. as well as outdoor products. The last photo is their historic sign which is still in use here in town. They shut down several years ago and this was used by a dress maker until recently when she retired.
The 214-13 is the most durable of the 214 line, it can sew through 3/8 of leather! This machine is popular with leather, denim, upholstery and industrial users.
We traced the serial # down, it was made in New Jersey in the Summer of 1949. They DO NOT make them like they used to! This machine has a Singer 1/2 HP motor and appears to have been retrofitted to be up to modern code. The table is solid hardwood (White Oak I believe!) and will offer you YEARS of heavy duty service.
