RP-SMA connectors are widely used in Wi-Fi applications and equipment to comply with FCC regulations. Such regulations are intended to prevent consumers from connecting antennas with gain... breaching FCC regulatory compliance.
The industry use of "reverse polarity" is a terrible term considering these connectors do not actually reverse the polarity on the electromagnetic field... only the gender of the connector.
