On offer is one lot of 5 new (old stock) pieces of a Mica Compression Trimmer, type 402 by Arco.
Arco has been manufacturing high quality capacitors for over 50 years and you'll find them in many older pieces of equipment. However, they seem to no longer make variable capacitors and are focussing on SMD fixed values. That makes these an endangered species ...
* 4pF..20pF - useful value for HF work

* Widely used in amateur radio projects and older commercial equipment.
To quote the manufacturer, "Arco trimming capacitors are treated for resistance to humidity and for permanence of capacity setting. The base is made of the lowest loss ceramic dielectric available and the mica is clear India Ruby. The soldering lugs may be bent in any position without affecting the capacitance setting." Lovely! ;-)

These are the 'ST' type, with holes in the lugs.
Several of the Ham retailers still stock these, or similar parts at $3..$6 each. The last supplier I knew to have stock were the fine folks at Ocean State Electronics, one of the few to carry the whole line, at $3.50 US each, that's over 13 for the 5pc here.. But even they seem to have disappeared from the web. A useful quantity starting at a much more reasonable price ...
RFPlus is a hobbyist with far too many components, accumulated over years of experimentation and development work, mostly in Australia.
Now located in the Southwest of England, UK ... the fishing town of Looe to be more precise ... I'm hoping to make a serious effort to dispose of the bulk of my electronic parts collection ... too many projects, too little time ... . It'll likely take a couple of years to work my way through, so if you're interested in 'The Art', particularly the RF side, please check back as there's a fair mix of both the utilitarian and the esoteric set to appear ...
